From 29 September to 1 October 2025, an advanced training course dedicated to international judicial cooperation was held in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), with a particular focus on extradition mechanisms and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

The initiative is part of the project “Rule of Law and Cooperation in Africa (2024-2025)”, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and implemented by the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, in collaboration with the Institute of Judicial Administration (IJA), with a view to strengthening dialogue and institutional cooperation between Italy and Tanzania in the field of justice.

The course, hosted at the Temeke One-Stop Judicial Centre, involved Tanzanian magistrates in an intensive three-day training programme that alternated between theoretical sessions, practical activities and analysis of real cases. The activities were led by Italian experts Alberto Perduca, former Public Prosecutor in Asti, and Lorenzo Gasbarri, Assistant Professor of International Law at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies.

The project “Rule of Law and Cooperation in Africa (2024-2025)” is part of the long-standing commitment of the MAECI and the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies to training and capacity building for the African judiciary. The project includes a series of in-depth studies on specific topics with the participation of Italian and African experts and university professors, with the aim of strengthening ties between Italy and African countries in the field of justice, promoting the exchange of good practices and institutional collaboration.

The opening ceremony, held on 29 September, was attended by H.E. the Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Coppola, who confirmed the support of the Farnesina and the Italian Embassy in Dar es Salaam for the success of these cooperation activities.
